This economical rear addition in Newtown transforms a small, dark and closed terrace into a light-filled spacious pavilion, surrounded by gardens to three sides. The design establishes three distinct outdoor rooms; a roof garden, a rear garden and a side garden around a double height kitchen and living area.
The outdoor green rooms, the internal living areas and the circulation are all visually connected. The blurred thresh-olds of each room share the openness of the neighbouring room to form expansive spaces within a limited area. Giving the project a feeling of spaciousness that is greater than its area. While the different floor levels of these rooms provide lots of opportunities to find refuge and privacy.
